ADAMS is Delighted by President Obama’s 1st visit to an American Mosque – the Islamic Society of Baltimore.

The All Dulles Area Muslim Society (ADAMS) deeply appreciates the President’s planned visit on Feb 3, 2016 to meet with American Muslims from across the USA at the Islamic Society of Baltimore, the largest Mosque in Maryland, serving the Baltimore area community with education, interfaith relations, civic activities, and social & healthcare services.   ADAMS Representatives look forward to attending this event.
In a time of unique and growing relationships between religion and communities all across America, President Obama and the Administration continue to exhibit the most quintessential American values of religious freedom, diversity and pluralism, and standing against xenophobia and bigotry.
American Muslims have always shared our nation’s commitment to progress, and have contributed richly to that progress, and to the growth and life of this great nation.  From America’s very beginnings, 30% of enslaved Africans brought to America were Muslim, who then helped build this country.  Today, several million American Muslims are serving as teachers, doctors, engineers, entrepreneurs, members of the US Military, and dedicated public servants. American Muslims continue to contribute to our shared national matters of importance, including national security, civil rights, religious freedom, equal opportunity for all, strengthening the Middle Class, economic growth, gender equality, climate change, healthcare and more.
ADAMS is especially pleased that this visit comes at such a pivotal time for American religious minorities.  Since 2006 ADAMS’ leadership has been heavily involved in advocating for the rights of religious minorities throughout the world.  ADAMS Executive Imam Mohamed HagMagid just returned from Marrakesh, where he and 250 Muslim leaders from around the world signed a Declaration supporting religious minorities in Muslim majority countries.
This Mosque visit is a critical way to counter the misinformation and fear of Islam that pervades too much of the current national debate and discussion.  We therefore thank the President and the White House staff for their willingness to ensure that all religious minorities in America can take their rightful place in further developing our great nation.
