The All Dulles Area Muslim Society (ADAMS) is horrified and sickened by the latest outrage in Nice, France and the death of so many innocent people, including women and children, all of whom were out to enjoy a memorable family moment.  The victims were Christian, Muslim, Jewish and other Faiths, and even reportedly Muslim women with headscarves.  This tragedy will now traumatize not only the victims but every witness and observer for the rest of their lives.

As we have repeatedly said, no one can ever sanction the taking of innocent lives, which is expressly and repeatedly forbidden by the Holy Quran. Our hearts and prayers go out to all the victims of this attack.  All true Muslims follow the fundamental truth that “There shall be no compulsion in religion.” [Quran 2:256]  Moreover, like our Jewish and Christian brothers and sisters, we are explicitly told in the Quran that the taking of one innocent life is akin to taking the lives of all of humanity. Nothing can ever justify such evil actions.

As ADAMS Trustee Robert Marro, a retired US Foreign Service Officer, noted, “When I served at US Embassy Paris, I often went to Nice on business and spent many pleasant hours strolling the Promenade des Anglais where this attack took place. But all those beautiful memories are now shattered by this unimaginably vicious act of cruelty.  I am truly grieved.”

We also deplore national commentators using this tragedy to propose Un-Constitutional and Un-American ideas like deporting Muslims who believe in Sharia, which only further divides our nation. The terrorists who commit such outrages  do NOT follow Islamic Law but rather an evil twisted doctrine that violates every tenet of Islam and Islamic Law.

We note that ADAMS has already been working to co-organize a major March For America: Americans Against Terrorism, Hate and Violence to take place on the National Mall near the steps of the Capitol, on Saturday, July 23 from 2 PM to 8 PM.
