The All Dulles Area Muslim Society (ADAMS) is saddened by the hate crime against 2 Indian Hindus that resulted in the killing of Srinivas Kuchibhotla and the wounding of Alok Madasani and Ian Grillot. Our thoughts and prayers are with all the victims, their families and the community, as they begin to heal from this tragedy. We are grateful for the unsung heroes – Mr. Grillot, a patron in the same establishment who was wounded trying to stop the perpetrator and and we thank the person that called the police.They are both heroes and shows the true spirit of America.
While we understand the motives of these crimes are still under investigation, it appears from initial police and witness reports this was an anti-Immigrant/Middle Eastern bias attack driven by prejudice. Witnesses told the Kansas City Star the alleged attacker Adam Purinton been drinking hard and expressing continuous racial slurs. When a bar regular told him to stop, the man yelled “get out of my country”, pulled out a gun and started shooting. ADAMS wishes to further express its concerns of the continued attacks and burning of Mosques in America, including the burning of the Islamic Society of New Tampa Florida last week. Over 130 Mosques have now been attacked, and dozens of Muslims killed in possible hate crimes in the past two years, including the terrorist attack in January 2017 where six Muslim worshippers were shot and killed and several others injured by a white supremacist inside a Mosque in Quebec, Canada https://www.adamscenter.org/?p=4715
All Americans must be extra vigilant in our common struggle against actions that threaten the very core of our nation’s principles. We must collectively assist law enforcement agencies to bring justice to the victims of these attacks. ADAMS’ works with local law enforcement and national agencies to help assure the safety of all communities and prevent all hate crimes. We will continue to build enduring relationships based on mutual respect and cooperation, so our local government officials can better protect all minorities in America.
