ADAMS Condemns the Horrific Mass School Shooting in Parkland, Florida

The All Dulles Area Muslim Society (ADAMS) condemns the domestic terrorist school shooting attack in Parkland, Florida.  We send our sincerest condolences and deepest sympathy to the victims and the families of this vicious murder of 17 people and injury of 14 others.

As Muslims, we believe the killing of one person is akin to the killing of all humanity, and if anyone saves one life, it is as if he/she has saved all of humanity. Nothing can ever justify such an evil criminal and terror act.  The ramifications will affect us all.

We are thankful that law enforcement officials were able to capture the perpetrator. We ask for a full investigation to determine the motive, assure justice is done, and to determine the alleged role of White Supremacist ties as reported by the  Anti-Defamation League(ADL).  https://www.adl.org/blog/florida-white-supremacist-group-admits-ties-to-alleged-parkland-school-shooter-nikolas-cruz

We urge our community and all communities to donate to help victims at

This 18th school shooting in 2018 already joins a very disturbing trend.  Since 2013, we have seen nearly 300 school shootings in America — about one a week (https://everytownresearch.org/school-shootings). Also, in 2017 there were 427 Mass shootings with over 590 killed and 1981 injured,    It is even more alarming to note that in 2015 alone, over 13,000 people were killed and 27,000 injured in the US by firearm violence (https://www.massshootingtracker.org/data/2017 and http://www.gunviolencearchive.org/).

We must work together to end this and create safe and peaceful communities.  ADAMS encourages all people to learn more about the Greater Washington chapter of Heeding God’s Call, a faith-based movement to prevent gun violence (http://www.heedinggodscall.org).

We reiterate our commitment to work together with our interfaith, public policy and law enforcement partners to end violence and extremism in all forms. ADAMS policy is to welcome people of all faiths and work closely with law enforcement agencies.
