Ali Altalib

Ali Altalib is a long-standing member of the ADAMS center. He attended Sunday school as a child, Saturday School as a youth, coached youth basketball, and currently gives Khutbahs at Adams.  Ali received his bachelors degree from George Mason University in Business Management and his Masters degree from American University in Finance.  Professionally, Ali is a Senior Project Manager at Freddie  Mac.  Ali is a father of a 4-year old son and a 2-year old daughter. He enjoys spending his time outdoors with his kids,  playing sports, and writing.  Ali has authored several articles for Horizons magazine and also enjoys writing poetry.  He is a spiritual student of his late grandfather, Shaykh Taha Jabir Al-Alwani and his mother, Shaykhah Zainab Alwani.  ADAMS has been a second home to Ali his entire life, and he’d like to help ensure that it’s a second home for his children as well, by serving on the Board of Trustees.  

Akhter Hossain 

I am a chief Electrical Engineer by profession, working for US Coast Guard. Ex co-chair of ADAMS Sully Committee and current advisor of Sully Committee. Chair of NABIC local committee. 

Bob Marro 

Raised in New Jersey, Bob joined the U.S. Dept of State in 1978 and was assigned to U.S. Embassy Malaysia as Vice Consul and Commercial Officer.   He then served in US Embassy London (Asst Commercial Attaché & Director, US International Marketing Center), Singapore (Commercial Attaché), Paris (Commercial Counselor) and Canada (Minister-Counselor). After 3 years as Regional Export Advisor al in St Louis MO and winning a Silver Medal, he returned to Washington to direct all commercial operations in Africa/Near East/South Asia, won a second Silver Medal for managing the aftermath of the US Embassy Nairobi bombing, and was tasked to create a worldwide training center (Commercial Service Institute), before leaving Government for private consulting in International Business.   

Joining ADAMS in 1998, Bob became Chair of Government Relations shortly thereafter, and was first elected Trustee in 2009.  Bob remains very active in media and interfaith relations, and his efforts have helped make ADAMS a role model for civic and interfaith outreach nationwide.  He has helped many ADAMS families with issues of help from Government Agencies and elected officials, and to represent our Community with VA’s General Assembly, state and local school boards and more. 

Marro has a BA in International Relations from Johns Hopkins, and did his MBA studies at Rutgers.  He and his wife Junaidah (from Malaysia) have twin sons Alexandre and Nicolas.   

Ehsan Baig 

Br. Ehsan Baig is a father of five daughters and two sons and has been living with his wife in Ashburn VA since 1995. He is an IT professional, holding a master’s degree in computer communications.  

He has always been a part of the ADAMS community since he moved to Virginia from New York in 1993. He was a part of a group of few brothers who established ADAMS Ashburn more than 15 years ago and has been a part of ADAMS Ashburn since.  

Br. Ehsan has always been an instrumental and causal part of the ADAMS Main center in various capacities, currently serving as a ADAMS Board of Trustee. He also serves as a Chair of ADAMS Community Service, where he enjoys the opportunity to arrange and supervise events that provide quality programs like- Feed the Hungry, coat and blanket drive, hygiene products, kits for cancer patients, food drives; Meet and Greet Sunday Breakfast, Potlucks, Family fun night, Day to Serve, children story time and movie nights, Insurance Enrollment; Udhiyah (qurbani) meat collection and distributions; ADAMS Festivals, Visits of Rehmah, Rise against Hunger events, helping raise funds for local and international affected countries; partnering with Helping Hand, Islamic relief and Loudoun Interfaith; Eid specials for seniors and community dinner, Ramadan gift shop and much more.  

Br. Ehsan Baig also serves as the ADAMS Funeral Service Coordinator and provides help, service and guidance to the families in preparing for funeral, burial arrangements, assistance to the affected families, sending announcements, arranging funeral prayers and providing financial support if a family is unable to afford the burial expenses. This is a 24/7 service for our entire community. In addition to the above services, he arranges workshops like “Janazah workshop” and “Will or wasiyyah workshop” for the benefit of the community.  

He is also involved with various civic and interfaith activities and represents ADAMS at the Virginia Faith Based Advisory Council in Richmond, VA to see how faith-based organizations can help struggling Virginians.  

Furthermore, he is on the Board of Directors of All Muslim Association of America (AMAA), also known as the Stafford Cemetery, Clergy INOVA FairOaks Hospital, formar Chaplain at Ashburn Fire and Rescue dept and a member of Loudoun Medical Reserve Corp.  

His wife Nausheen Baig, the ADAMS Volunteer Coordinator, and daughter Rabia Baig and other children are also very instrumental and active at ADAMS and always work with him to take ADAMS to the next level whenever possible.  

Finally, if Br. Ehsan get elected to the ADAMS Board through your support and votes, he will ensure to serve the community with even greater efforts, provide better and enhanced programs with the support of ADAMS board, management, staff and community members like you Insha’Allah.

Farhan Syed 

Farhan Syed is a transplant Virginian, hailing from South Florida. He and his family moved to the ADAMS community in 2005. Since his youth, Farhan has been active member of his local community, whether in South Florida, Chicago, or in Northern Virginia by serving in various leadership roles. His most recent leadership experience is serving as the current ISNA East Zone representative (2016-2018). He previously served as a board member for Al Fatih Academy from 2013-2016. While in South Florida, during the early years of the founding of the Muslim Youth of North America (MYNA), Farhan played an active role by promoting MYNA, serving as a youth leader, and organizing various programs and activities. The same commitment continued when he reached college and helped establish the first regional zone (MSA-SEZ) of MSA National in 1994. He then served on the MSA National executive board when he was elected as the East Zone representative (US) for MSA National (1995-1997). He was active in the revival of MSA National, in the development of leadership training programs, and in organizing the zonal conference for MSA National. When he lived in Chicago, he served on the executive board of Council of American Muslim Professionals (CAMP) – Chicago, co-founded Accenture’s Muslim affinity group, the Accenture Muslim Networking Group (MNG), established halal dining services and prayer facilities at Accenture’s St. Charles training facility, was a featured speaker on Islam for the Archdiocese of Chicago, Ecumenical Office (2001-2005), conducting Islam 101 workshops to local parishes and Catholic schools. He also served as the 2002 ISNA Convention Steering Committee Vice-Chair, which was attended by over 25,000 participant. While in Northern Virgnia, Farhan had volunteered his time with the ADAMS Cub Scout program, by serving as the committee chair for the PACK 1576 (2012-2014). He currently provides his time and energies to TROOP 786 (2016-current). Farhan received his BS degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Miami, FL and attended law school at the John Marshall Law School in Chicago 

Mesbah Islam 

 Mr. Mesbah Islam lives in Chantilly, Virginia with his wife, Ismat Syeda, and three sons. He has been a life member of ADAMS since 2001 and living in greater ADAMS community since 1999.  

Mr. Islam is the current Chair of ADAMS Sully Committee (ASC). He is leading the ASC toward implementing ADAMS mission and vision “to provide religious, social, and educational services to enable the Muslim community to fulfill its responsibilities and contribute to the betterment of society by embodying and exemplifying leadership and excellence and fostering peace, and to be a model American Muslim community with which Allah (God) is pleased”. More specifically, Mr. Islam has assumed the leadership of ADAMS Sully community to promote religious programs, youth programs, Quran education for youth and adults, sister self-defense, involve sisters in different programs, build a new mosque for the Sully community, ensure the quality of Islamic education in Sully Sunday school, effectively engage volunteers to serve the community, and promote collaboration within the ADAMS community.  

Mr. Islam is a founding member of Adams Sully Center and has been a volunteer of greater ADAMS community since 2002. In collaboration with other Sully community members, Mr. Islam and his wife facilitated weekly prayers for the Sully community in 2008 in their house in Chantilly, when the Sully Community did not have a mosque. This temporary effort was to organize a Muslim community, raise funds to facilitate taraweeh prayers in 2008, and eventually build a mosque in the Sully area. He has been involved in packaging food and collecting donations on Fridays, and coordinating Iftar in Ramadan for the Sully community over the past several years. He also volunteered to teach a class in Java and Selenium technology at the Sully Center to train Muslim IT professionals in 2015.  

Mr. Islam received his Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology in late-eighties. In early-nineties, he pursued his Master’s degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering at Utah State University. He has been working for the US Patent and Trademark Office as a Senior IT Manager since January of 2014. Prior to that, he worked for the OIG, US EPA, Washington, DC, as an IT Specialist for more than five years, and INDUS Corporation as an IT Project Manager for 2 years. Working for the private and public sectors over the last 30 years, he gained a substantial amount of experience in engineering, IT industry, software applications and database development, project and staff management, training IT professionals, and tutoring K-12 grade students in math, science, and SAT. In his leisure time, he plays with his children, studies the Quran and hadith, read books, technical articles, attends Quran classes and halaqa, volunteers at ADAMS Sully Center, and enjoys fishing. 

Muhammad Faysal 

I first visited The ADAMS Center with my family while traveling through this area and stopping by for Maghrib prayer. After our brief visit and meeting Imam Magid, we thought how wonderful it would be to call a community like ADAMS our home and let our kids grow up here. By the grace of Allah (SWT), I have been a proud and active member of ADAMS community since 2012. 

My wife and I have 3 children who are participating in ADAMS Radiant Hearts Academy (RHA), Sunday School Children Education Program (CEP), Taleem Ul Quran and Scouting programs. I am grateful to be a part of ADAMS volunteers and currently serving as the Assistant Committee Chair of ADAMS Scouts BSA Cub Scouting Pack 1576 and founding Lab Manager of ADAMS Scouts BSA STEM Scouting Lab 1576, the first Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Scouting program in Scouts BSA National Capital Area (DC, Maryland, Virginia and US Virgin Islands).  

Moving to the United States at the age of 17, I received my bachelor’s, master’s and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical and Systems Engineering. In addition to working as an advisor for the federal government, I teach graduate engineering classes at my alma mater, the George Washington University and successfully graduated over 19 doctoral candidates over my career. I have been active in community service since my early days as a student, serving in both Student Government and International Student Associations. As a STEM advocate, I advised the Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) Career and Technical Education Committee. 

I firmly believe that a Muslim should always be a role model of faith, character and serve humanity with his/her knowledge. ADAMS is not just a mosque or a community center, but also a nurturing ground for the children and youth who would help lead the world by example. I humbly request your support and duaa joining the Board of Trustees to help ADAMS thrive and extend its services to serve Allah (SWT). 

Syed Ashraf 

Syed Ashraf is Management Consultant and Systems Architect by profession and have been part of ADAMS community for more than 15 years. As part of ADAMS Civic Engagement (ACE) team,  he has been engaged in promoting civic engagement,  grassroots  activism, issue based advocacy and voter participation in our  community. He has also been actively involved with ADAMS Toastmasters Club to cultivate public speaking and leadership skills and as President of the club got it chartered. He has been instrumental in organizing multiple Youth Leadership Programs and contributed to multiple other initiatives at ADAMS. Currently he also serves on Loudoun Complete Count Committee for 2020 Census to help make sure everyone is counted and feels welcomed in Loudoun. 

Sabri Hammad 

My name is Sabri Hammad and I was born and raised in Northern Virginia.  I live in Fairfax with my wife, Kouthar Muttardy and our 3 children, Issa, Tamam, and Bayan.  I have a background in Project Management and Technology and current work in sales at Oracle in Reston.  Through the years I have had the honor of serving and volunteering with multiple non-profit organizations including on the Executive Committee of Muslim Association of Virginia (Dar Al-Noor) in Manassas and as a Board Member of Al-Fatih Academy.  Currently I am the Chair of ADAMS Fairfax where my focus has been finding the relocation and establishing a branch in the City of Fairfax.  In my spare time my family and I like to hike, play sports, and tend to our garden, chickens, and bees.. 

Uzma Rasheed 

As a lifetime member of ADAMS since 1997 Uzma Rasheed has worked with ADAMS youth, social activities, interfaith outreach, civic engagement, and the Eid Committee. Uzma has also been involved with the ADAMS Venture Crew, boy scouts and girl scouts. She has volunteered with the ADAMS summer school, Saturday school, festivals, Civic picnics, New Muslim Support Group, and Ramadan security. She has also had a 15 year career as a Mechanical Engineer, and is presently working in IT Project Management. She is currently serving a fourth term on her Condo Board Association executive committee as Vice President.  

Younus Mirza 

Younus Yaqub Mirza has grown up within the ADAMS Community where he was active in the ADAMS Youth Program, teaching at Saturday School and then serving as the Chair of the Youth Committee.  It is through ADAMS that he met his wife Rehenuma Asmi and they now have three wonderful daughters. Professionally, Br. Mirza is a Visiting Researcher at Georgetown University in the Center for Christian-Muslim Understanding and the Director of the Jamal Barzinji Project for International Collaboration with Muslim-Majority Countries at Shenandoah University.  He is the author of the book The Bible and the Qur’an: Biblical Figures in the Islamic Tradition and published in various academic journals such as the Journal of Qur’anic Studies.  Within the ADAMS community, he currently serves on the Board of Trustees, is Chair of the Youth Task Force, is a regular khatib, contributes to the after fajr tafsir program and is the Cookie and Camping Coordinator of his daughters’ Girl Scouts Troops.  Br. Mirza seeks a children focused and youth friendly masjid and will continue to work towards the development of the ADAMS Youth Program.
