ADAMS Community is Deeply Saddened by the Horrific Attacks in Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, Iraq, Malaysia, and Indonesia

The ADAMS community is deeply saddened by the horrific attacks Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, Iraq, Malaysia, and Indonesia.  We mourn not only the tragic loss of these precious lives and the pain of their families and loved ones, but the loss of all lives taken by ignorance, fear, hatred, and violence in our stricken times.  We are especially devastated by knowing these attacks took place in the holiest of months for all Muslims, and in direct contravention to the spirit and good will of the sacred month of Ramadan at the sacred city for all Muslims, Medina.

Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) said, “Medina is a sanctuary. Its trees should not be cut and no heresy should be innovated nor any sin should be committed in it, and whoever innovates in it an heresy or commits sins (bad deeds), then he will incur the curse of God, the angels, and all the people.” (See Hadith No. 409, Vol 9)

The attack in Medina was undoubtedly an assault on Islam itself and an atrocious assault on the world’s Muslims, many of whom come from all corners of the world to the sacred city.

It further reaffirms that the Terrorists around the world are traitors of Islam and have all throughout been acting outside of the fold of Islam which is exemplified by their attack against the Prophet Muhammad’s Mosque in Medina, Saudia Arabia.

We pray for all those that have been injured for a speedy recovery. We stand in solidarity with the people of Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, Iraq, Malaysia, and Indonesia, America, India, Japan, Italy, and other International community citizens affected by this tragedy, and feel their pain.  No words can properly express the outrage, and the grief, we feel as a result of these vicious acts

May their loss and pain inspire us all to act and to live with added sensitivity, compassion, mercy, and reconciliation in our own lives, and in embracing the wider life of the entire human family, beginning with those whom we encounter each day.  ADAMS joins all people of heart and good conscience in standing against terrorism, extremism, and hate.  We continue to pray, to hope, and to work for peace here and in every nation around the world.

Muslims are the largest victims of worldwide terrorism and suffer between 82 and 97 percent of terrorism-related fatalities. http://www.state.gov/j/ct/rls/crt/2011/195555.htm
